Project Objective
Trotec belongs to the Dantherm Group, the European market leader for air conditioning solutions. The aim of this project was to consolidate Trotec's scattered product data landscape and expand it into a scalable “single source of truth” for marketing, sales, and e-commerce. Instead of operating CRM, ERP, outdated PIM, and various DAMs as isolated solutions, all product-relevant information was to be available centrally, consistently, and across brands today for Trotec, tomorrow for other brands and future subsidiaries of the Dantherm Group.
With the Akeneo Product Cloud, a central platform was introduced that clearly models complex technical attributes and reliably maps them in multiple languages. The flexible data model with table attributes and reference entities creates quality and future security.
AI-powered translations shorten time-to-market in new markets without losing tonality and terminology
Internal stakeholders receive curated product information via Akeneo Shared Catalogs without deep PIM access. Context-appropriate data is thus available for campaigns, sales, and e-commerce.
Playout in Adobe Commerce is automated via a TechDivision middleware solution for a consistent product experience along the customer journey.
In short, the goal was data sovereignty and speed. Trotec now has a central, expandable PXM platform based on Akeneo that manages product data efficiently, makes it usable across teams, and scales internationally.
Project Goals
- No central source: Product information was distributed across PIM, CRM, ERP, and DAM, resulting in media discontinuities, duplicate maintenance, slow coordination, and error-prone updates.
- Manual maintenance slowed things down: Technical details (e.g., sound pressure level, protection ratings) and translations were maintained manually, time-consuming and not consistent across the board.
- Lack of scalability: A robust structure was lacking for the growing portfolio, including accessories and spare parts; it took a great deal of effort to map the international range.
